We arrived in Ndjamena in time, but we lost a lot of time with the hotel managment because of the antennas...
Now we operate with all the setup, the last night we went on 40m and 80m. We tried on 80m SSB, but nothing to do. In CW it's much better but we have noise.
Yesterday evening on 80m we had a problem with one transceiver, we chaged it with the other station and now everything is OK.
No problem on the higher bands.
The skip with Italy is particularly good, so we have a lot of strong italians signals everywhere. Obviosuly we try to put in our log everyone calling us from everywhere in the world. So, be patient.
Today we installed a inverted-L for 160m, using several trees around the hotel.. Tonight we'll try it. This afternoon we'll install some antennas for receiving, maybe a DHDL bea**** north for first, we have not enough space
for beverages. We'll see later if we can improve the setup. At the moment we can not plan anything on 160m band.
The antennas of the CW station are far away from the other stations, and we have only one coax line feeding all the antennas of the CW station (spiderbeam for high bands and vertical for low bands). When we change the band, we have to walk about 100 meters to reach the antennas and to do the change. So, if time to time some break occurs, now you know the reason.
We have good pile-up on 6m band, again with a lot of strong italians signals..
For now, only a couple of black-out in the night.
The hotel is not bad. It's not at our standards , anyway we are well, although the menu is almost always the same.
Here it's very hot outside, inside the hotel the air conditioning operates at maximum. Thanks God, no sick for now.
Siamo arrivati puntuali a Ndjamena ma abbiamo avuto problemi inattesi con la direzione dell'hotel per montare le antenne.
Siamo operativi con tutto il setup, la notte scorsa siamo usciti in 40 e 80m. Abbiamo fatto un tentativo in 80 fonia ma senza successo, In cw va abbastanza bene ma c'è rumore.
Ieri sera quando abbiamo provato gli 80m c'è stato un problema su una radio, la abbiamo scambiata di postazione e tutto va bene.
Sulle bande alte non ci sono problemi particolari.
Lo skip con l'Italia è particolarmente favorevole, ma ovviamente non facciamo discriminazioni e cerchiamo di mettere a log tutti coloro che arrivano.
Questa mattina abbiamo montato una L invertita per i 160m. Abbiamo usato, come supporti, vari alberi. Stanotte proveremo come funziona. Oggi pomeriggio monteremo le antenne in rx, credo che cominceremo con una DHDL a nord, non c'è spazio per stendere le beverages, purtroppo. Vedremo in seguito come migliorare. Non possiamo fare programmi, per il momento, per i 160m che molti stanno chiedendo a gran voce.
Questa notte faremo le prove in 160m e in base ai risultati stabiliremo la strategia per i prossimi giorni.
Le antenne della stazione cw sono molto distanti, oltre 100m, e abbiamo una sola linea che alimenta tutte le relative antenne, la spyderbeam, la verticale 40-80, i 160. Idem per la stazione SSB, 160 a parte. Questo ci costringe, quando cambiamo banda, ad uscire dall'hotel, raggiungere le antenne e fare lo scambio dei cavi.
Quindi se ci saranno interruzioni nelle trasmissioni, ora se ne può comprendere la ragione.
Abbiamo fatto un bello exploit in 6m, segnali forti ma in prevalenza italiani, ancora una volta!
Solo un paio di brevi interruzioni di corrente durante la notte.
L'hotel non è male, non è lo standard europeo ma è vivibile anche se il menù è un pò monotono. Fa molto caldo all'esterno, all'interno i condizionatori vanno a manetta. Grazie al cielo, nessun problema intestinale.....
